Medicare Urgent Care Clinic Opening in Rockingham – By WAPHA News

Rockingham Medical and Dental Centre has been confirmed as Western Australia’s second Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (UCC), following a competitive expression of interest.

From 30 June 2023, the clinic will begin seeing patients in need of urgent care over extended hours, seven days a week, and will bulk bill urgent care consultations.

This follows the recent confirmation of Rudloc Road Medical and Dental Centre, Morley as the state’s first Medicare UCC, marking the first step in a comprehensive plan to establish a total of seven clinics.

An expression of interest for clinics to be located in Midland, Murdoch and Bunbury and surrounding areas is open from Monday 29 May with applications closing at 12.00pm, Monday 10 July 2023.

Negotiations for the clinic for Joondalup and surrounding areas are in the advanced stages, while a separate process will be undertaken for the seventh clinic in Broome.

Medicare UCCs will be located within existing facilities, such as general practices and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.

The clinics are dedicated to providing prompt treatment for urgent, but not life-threatening, illnesses and injuries requiring same-day assessment for people who may otherwise have visited an emergency department.
