Staying consistent for 50 years
Summit Realty first opened its doors 50 years ago when the Summit Homes Group joined forces with Doug Jackson, a well-known local estate agent, to open the Group’s own estate agency. We started in the Rockingham City Shopping Centre way back in 1973, when flares and wire framed gold glasses still ruled! Like fashion we’ve had a few updates to our look, but the name and ethos of a family owned business have remained unchanged.
And no one knows Rockingham like us. Who remembers the Palm Beach Deli, credited with providing the creative spark for Home & Away? Or when the Scientific Park opened its doors – or not! Lots of conspiracy theories have evolved after the high barbed wire fences and surveillance camera signs were erected 50 years ago.
Our staff live here and not only know where the local speed cameras are but also that if you head to the Rocko foreshore, as well as not forgetting the slip, slop, slap, make sure you pack the vinegar for the stingers!
Summit Realty has been witness to many local changes as the area has evolved over the last five decades. Back in the early 70s, the area was merely known as the Shire of Rockingham and the suburb of Warnbro represented the limit of maps! There was a built-up area along the Rockingham foreshore and Shoalwater, but Safety Bay was largely undeveloped and Cooloongup was just a place name. Population has steadily grown from 17,000 back in 1976 and is forecast to reach nearly 200,000 in 2036.
Like the area, Summit Realty has grown to fit the property demands of a changing population. General Manager, Brock Gurr stated, “We’re delighted to have served the Rockingham area under one name for 50 years. Property prices were a little different to what they are now and technology has completely changed how we operate, but we’re still the same relatable locals that we were back in the early days.
